Colorful Black is a journey

The project's origin: Anna's vision, which you can read about here, with the support of her husband, Frédéric.

Anna, like many Afro-Caribbean French women, had a lot of difficulty finding products suitable for her kinky hair and dark skin.

It was during a trip to London that the click happened. Indeed, across the Channel, the selection of products was more extensive and of better quality compared to that of the capital, which was practically non-existent at the time.


In 2009, the Colorful Black e-shop was created.

Back in France, passionate and determined, Anna approached a number of American brands.
In 2009, the creation of the Colorful Black online store marked the beginning of the adventure.
The products sold would be stored in the apartment, which quickly became too small.

In 2011, we opened our store at 4 rue Poissonnière (Paris)

Your enthusiasm and loyalty have driven us from the beginning and pushed us to develop our business. To be closer to you, in 2011 we opened a physical store at 4 rue Poissonnière in Paris, where we were better able to advise you.

In 2016 we moved… across the street to a more spacious and elegant store after its renovation

With time and busy days, the lack of space was felt again, but by a happy coincidence, a lease became available across the street: at number 7. After several months of work, we opened a larger store in 2016 with an expanded team. And in 2019, we decided to redesign the space. Now, this space reflects our image: elegant and warm, and we are convinced that all conditions are met to better welcome you and provide you with a unique experience.

Moreover, in 2020, not wanting to stop there, our historic online sales site got a makeover! We are now on a premium version with easier navigation to better serve you.
