At Kalia Nature, hibiscus is not just any ingredient. It has been the brand's signature for ten years, inherited directly from Caribbean pharmacopoeia and recipes passed down by Sandrine Sophie's grandmother in the Fort-de-France market. At Colorful Black, we have chosen to present this range to you in its entirety, step by step, so that you understand how each product works with the others.
Today, the Hibiscus range consists of six products: two shampoos, a hair milk, a multi-purpose cream, a styling gel, and a melting balm. Each has a specific role in the routine.
Step 1 — Washing: two formats, the same gentleness
The range offers two ways to cleanse the scalp without aggressing it.
- The Hibiscus Shampoo: sulfate-free liquid formula, with 98.5% natural ingredients. Its gel-cream texture transforms into a light foam upon contact with water, enriched with organic hibiscus oil, organic agave syrup, and organic castor oil. Suitable for ages 3 and up, and for pregnant women.
- The Hibiscus Solid Shampoo: molded in the shape of an hibiscus flower, this bar format with kokum oil and grape seed oil provides about 25 washes. Ideal for dry and damaged hair, and for light travel.
Step 2 — Hydration: milk and cream, two textures for two uses
This is the heart of the range, and the duo most identified with the brand.
- The Hibiscus Hair Milk: a cocktail of oils (hibiscus, yangu, grape seed, safflower) combined with aloe vera and vegetable glycerin. Its melting texture and spray format make it the daily gesture to refresh curls between washes, for all porosities.
- The Hibiscus Cream: the most versatile product in the range, usable as a detangler, mask or leave-in depending on the need of the moment. Composed of 95% natural ingredients, it combines yangu oil, grape seed oil and hibiscus extract to nourish and tame frizzy to coily hair.
At Colorful Black, we advise to dose the cream carefully for leave-in use: a small amount is usually enough, as excess can weigh down fine hair.
Step 3 — Definition: the Hibiscus Gel
The Hibiscus Gel is the styling product in the range. Formulated with xanthan gum, agave extract, and hibiscus seed oil, it offers strong hold while maintaining a light finish, without a crunchy effect.
- On damp hair, apply a pea-sized amount of gel per section
- Distribute evenly then scrunch to define the curl
- Let air dry or use a diffuser
- Can also be used to lay down baby hairs or structure twists and braids
Step 4 — Sealing: the Hibiscus Melting Balm
The Hibiscus Melting Balm concludes the routine. Made with shea butter, mango butter, and grape seed oil, it seals in the hydration provided by the milk or cream and protects the driest and most brittle ends. A small amount is enough to nourish without greasing.
How to combine products according to your needs
- Daily dry hair care: Hibiscus Shampoo → Hair Milk → Melting Balm
- Curls to redefine: Hair Milk or Hibiscus Cream as a base → Hibiscus Gel for hold
- Complete weekend routine: Shampoo or Solid Shampoo → Hibiscus Cream as a mask → Hibiscus Gel for styling
