EvasHair's Lwil Maskriti is the oil that started it all — the brand's first product, born from an ancestral Haitian family tradition, and now the ultimate sealing active in the EvasHair hair routine.

This Haitian black castor oil, obtained by roasting and traditional pressing of castor seeds, concentrates the best of omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, vitamin E, and ricinoleic acid — to stimulate growth, thicken, strengthen, and seal moisture in kinky, curly, and coily hair.

Multi-purpose: hair and scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, beard, and nails.

The fourth and final step of the EvasHair LOC routine — the ultimate seal that extends hydration for several days.

The origin: a Haitian family recipe passed down from generation to generation

It all started in the backyard of Eva Biassou's grandparents, in the village of Piton in Haiti. Castor beans (Ricinus communis) are hand-roasted, crushed, then immersed in boiling water until a dark amber-colored oil is obtained — Lwil Maskriti, or "huile de carapate" in the French Caribbean, or "Black Castor Oil" in the English-speaking world. It is this artisanal, entirely traditional manufacturing process that distinguishes Lwil Maskriti from ordinary industrial castor oil. Roasting the seeds before pressing naturally raises the pH of the oil and alters its ash composition — giving it stimulating and fortifying properties that are much more intense than those of a classic cold-pressed castor oil. It is a unique product, born from a century-old Haitian savoir-faire.

Ricinoleic acid: the rarest and most effective hair active in the plant world

Castor oil is the only vegetable oil in the world to contain ricinoleic acid in significant concentration — between 85 and 95% of its composition. This hydroxy-unsaturated fatty acid, rare in nature, is responsible for all the hair properties of Lwil Maskriti. It stimulates blood circulation in the scalp, promoting the supply of nutrients to the hair follicles and thus growth. It coats each strand with a viscous, protective film that retains moisture, reduces breakage, and improves fiber elasticity. It has natural antimicrobial properties that help maintain a healthy scalp. And its exceptional viscosity makes it the most effective natural sealant available — significantly superior to ordinary vegetable oils for maintaining hydration in textured fibers.

The fourth step of the LOC routine: final sealing after the balm

In the complete EvasHair routine, Lwil Maskriti is the last step — after the Île-à-Vache Spray (hydration), the Belle-Anse Cream (nutrition), and the Anse-à-Galets Melting Balm (main sealing). A few drops are enough: warm them between your palms and distribute them over the lengths of the already applied balm. This double sealing of balm + oil is particularly recommended for high porosity hair, which loses water more quickly and needs maximum protection to maintain hydration for several days. For low porosity hair, a single sealing step (balm or oil, not both) is usually sufficient to avoid buildup.

Usage tips
  • As the last step in the LOC routine: after the Anse-à-Galets balm, warm a few drops between your palms and apply to the lengths.
  • As a scalp treatment: massage directly onto the scalp at night, rinse with shampoo the next morning.
  • As a pre-shampoo oil bath: apply generously to dry hair before shampooing, leave on for 30 minutes to 1 hour under a heated cap.
  • For eyelashes and eyebrows: apply with a cotton swab every evening.
  • For beard and nails: massage a small amount onto the areas to be treated.
  • Multi-purpose use: hair, scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, beard, nails.
